ALIF: Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (with bone graft and metal plate)
ALIF (Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion) is performed through the front (anterior) of the body to remove a damaged lumbar disc and place a cage and bone graft in the disc space. A metal plate is then attached to secure the graft and stabilize the spine.
This approach provides strong support while avoiding disruption of the back muscles. Over time, the bone graft fuses with the surrounding vertebrae, helping to relieve pain and improve spinal stability.
