Subacromial Decompression
Subacromial decompression is performed to relieve pressure in the space between the shoulder blade and the rotator cuff tendons. In this space, bone spurs or inflammation can cause irritation, leading to pain and limited movement, especially when lifting the arm overhead.
The procedure is usually done arthroscopically. The surgeon reshapes part of the shoulder blade and removes any inflamed tissue, creating more space for the tendons to glide smoothly. This reduces pain, restores mobility, and lowers the risk of further tendon injury.
