Loose Body Removal
Loose body removal is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat fragments of bone, cartilage, or other tissue that have broken free inside the knee joint. These loose bodies can cause pain, swelling, locking, or a catching sensation when moving the knee. Left untreated, they may lead to further irritation and damage within the joint.
Using arthroscopy, the surgeon creates small openings in the knee and inserts a camera and specialized instruments to locate and remove the fragments. In some cases, minor repairs are also performed if the debris has damaged the joint surface. This approach relieves discomfort, restores smoother joint movement, and supports long-term knee function.
